9 A-SIDE CLUB COMPETITION

GHANA RUGBY LEAGUE 9S

To ensure an all year round rugby league calendar and to keep players active as well as give sponsors value for money, the RUGBY LEAGUE FEDERATION OF GHANA will be organizing a monthly Rugby League 9s series schedule to start from January to December in 2021 and looking forward to 2022 at the Legon Rugby Field.

To grow the women’s wing of the sport, there will always be a curtain raiser for the women in the sport. As part of the games which looks at drawing at least 500 people each match day, the Federation will be running a Mental Health initiative.

The series will see  four clubs play a one day all play all nines tournament with a match lasting for 20 minutes (9 minutes 30 seconds each half). On a match day, teams will be allowed to play 15 players (9 on the field, 6 interchange). In all, there will be 12 match days on the last Sunday of a month from January to December.

This initiative dubbed University (UNI) 9’s will see all Universities and Technical Universities participating in the gentleman’s game.
The 9s will see universities play a one day all play all nines tournament with the hope that those players involved from the following teams be recruited by the BULLS, PANTHERS, PIRATES and SKOLARS:
UNIVERSITY OF GHANA | UNIVERSITY OF CAPE COAST | UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION, WINNEBA | LANCASTER UNIVERSITY | UNIVERSITY OF PROFESSIONAL STUDIES, ACCRA
