YOUTH RUGBY LEAGUE

In 2022 we are set to relaunch our fledgling youth festival, which will look to bring all rugby league clubs in our primary and secondary schools to a central venue to celebrate Rugby League. In a festival format with rugby league, music, dance and various other activities, the ambition is to welcome all players to socialize, play alongside each other and to get parents and teaches to experience what their kids engage in as extract circular. This will be organised during the second term of the academic year.

African Warriors RLC Are Champions of Junior Rugby League championship

African Warriors are crown champions of the first-ever Junior Rugby League Championship to be organised by the Rugby League Federation Ghana (RLFG).

The last game out of three, was a play on June 27 which  witnessed  a head to head contention among the two junior clubs- Firm Foundation Rugby Academy and African Warriors. The favourites, Firm Foundation, were unable to live to expectations of their supporters.

The African Warriors took their chances in all halves of the match from the blast of the whistle till the end of the game. Firm Foundation was unlucky as they were unable to tally the scoreline before full time.

"I am very grateful for this opportunity given my team and I, by the federation. I would like to thank my coach for encouraging and making time for the team to get to this point as champions and as history makers." Man of the match Mohammed Yakubu (African Warriors) added.

Eric Sowah, coach of the African Warriors expressed his excitement on his first-ever win in a championship. " The match was not an easy one, but my boys proved they were determined for the glory at stake. We will keep training so we can win the trophy for the next seasons to come."

The General Manager of RLFG is hopeful about the future of the Junior category of Ghana's Rugby League. "The performance exhibited by both teams tells one thing.

The future of the Rugby League Federation of Ghana is bright. Kudos to the coaches training these young ones and the coordinator  for the Junior RL Championship for a good work done."
